Requests for Approval of Oilfield and Industrial Chemicals

Requests for the approval of chemicals to be used in the petroleum and petrochemical industries are forwarded to the Petroleum Operations Management Division. Companies requesting chemical approvals are required to adhere to the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries requirements found in the “Procedure for the Approval of Oilfield and Industrial Chemicals”.

These guidelines state the information that must be provided to the MEEI to process the chemical approval such as a brief description of the process in which the chemical is being used, the concentration being used, the frequency of use, treatment/storage/disposal after use and laboratory reports stating the chemical’s SDS verification, toxicity and biodegradability properties.
