Dr. Saith served as Minister of Energy and Energy Industries between the period 2006 to 2007. During his tenure as Energy Minister, Dr. Saith played a noteworthy role in developing Trinidad and Tobago’s capacity to convert natural gas into liquefied natural gas (LNG) for export in commercial quantities. His contributions to developing Trinidad and Tobago’s LNG industry was instrumental in establishing our energy infrastructure and positioning this country as a major LNG exporter.
As a former Energy Minister, Dr. Saith led the expansion of oil and gas exploration and played a key role in the integration of energy sector strategy with broader government reforms. This resulted in the formulation of a legislative framework for the energy sector that continues to guide national development today.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to the public service and advancement of the energy sector, Dr. Saith was awarded the nation’s highest honour, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in 2017.
Dr. Saith will be remembered for his humility, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to public service. His influence continues to resonate in the energy industry and across the wider spheres of national development.
