In a continued commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations, the Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, the Honourable Ernesto R. Kesar and Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Mrs. Ava Mahabir-Dass, welcomed His Excellency Fikry Cassidy, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront Complex Head-Office, Port of Spain today, Thursday 28th May, 2026. His Excellency was accompanied by Ms. Romanna Sirait, Counsellor and Head of Economic Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Noor Imanudin, Member of Staff from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.
The discussions centred on several key sectors and mutually beneficial opportunities for both countries, with emphasis placed on how continued diplomatic engagement could encourage avenues for economic development. Ambassador Cassidy introduced Indonesia’s state-owned energy company, Pertamina, one of Southeast Asia’s largest integrated oil and gas corporations. Talks further addressed matters concerning Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) imports, with both sides acknowledging the importance of continued collaboration.
The visit concluded with the Minister expressing optimism about fostering a strong relationship with Indonesian stakeholders on behalf of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, in support of the growth, development, and sustainability of the energy sector.
