Dr. The Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries along with Mrs. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; Ms. Karinsa Tulsie, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; and Mr. Marc Rudder, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with Mr. Anand Ragbir, Managing Director, Proman, Ms. Giselle Thompson, Deputy Managing Director, Proman; and Mrs. Hana Sukhu-Maharaj, Director of Marketing and Logistics, Proman on 11th June 2025 at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront Complex, Head Office, Port-of-Spain.
Both Ministers welcomed Mr. Ragbir and Ms. Thompson and congratulated them on their recent appointments at Proman. The Ministers reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to advancing the work of the energy sector and emphasized the critical role of energy as the cornerstone of Trinidad and Tobago’s economy. The Ministers also expressed interest in deepening collaboration with Proman on ongoing and upcoming projects, and encouraged future investment in the sector.
Proman provided an overview of its extensive operations in Trinidad and Tobago, noting the company’s ownership and operation of 14 petrochemical plants. The company underscored its long-term commitment to the country and highlighted its continued investment in innovative clean energy technologies as part of its vision for a greener future. Proman also outlined new opportunities in methanol, recognizing Trinidad and Tobago’s status as the world’s second largest exporter and a key supplier in the global methanol market.
Proman also shared updates on its exports of ammonia, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN), and melamine to international markets, reaffirming the importance of Trinidad and Tobago’s contribution to the global petrochemical value chain.
Both Ministers gave their assurance of the Government’s continued support through the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, and reiterated their commitment to working with Proman to further strengthen the energy sector for the benefit of the economy of Trinidad and Tobago.
