Energy Ministers Meet with Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago

Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and the Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries along with Mrs. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; Ms. Karinsa Tulsie, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; and Mr. Marc Rudder, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with Ms. Kellyanne Lochan, Vice President and Country Manager, Woodside Energy and Dr. Carla Noel-Mendez, Corporate Affairs Manager, Woodside Energy on 27th May 2025 at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront Complex, Head Office, Port-of-Spain.


At the meeting, the Honourable Minister Dr. Moonilal highlighted the Government’s vision for the energy sector and for the re-emergence of Trinidad and Tobago as the energy capital of the region in addition to working with stakeholders to increase production of the country’s hydrocarbon resources. The Honourable Minister received updates from Woodside Energy on its operations in Trinidad and Tobago and recognised the critical role of the company in maximizing production of our hydrocarbon resources
particularly the work currently being pursued in the deep-water area.


Woodside Energy highlighted the importance of its Trinidad and Tobago operations to the company’s global portfolio. While the company has taken the decision to divest its assets in the Greater Angostura area, Woodside Energy remains committed to pursuing opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago as demonstrated by the ongoing work in the Calypso field with its joint venture partner, bpTT. The Honourable Minister Dr. Moonilal commended the company for its work and reiterated Government’s interest in the pursuit of projects such as Calypso as a priority.


Both Ministers gave their commitment on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries to continue to work with Woodside Energy to ensure maximized production of our natural resources for the benefit of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
