The Honourable Ernesto Kesar, Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, welcomed His Excellency Giles Roduit, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, during a courtesy call on Wednesday 5th November, 2025, at the Ministry’s Head Office, International Waterfront Complex, Port of Spain. Also in attendance were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Ag.) Mr. Marc Rudder and Ms. Sheena Gosine, Energy International Relations and Affairs Advisor to the Minister.

The meeting highlighted areas of mutual interest, including the role of Swiss-affiliated companies in Trinidad and Tobago’s energy sector, with specific reference to PROMAN’s contributions to downstream operations. Minister Kesar acknowledged Switzerland’s ongoing engagement and expressed appreciation for the collaborative relationship between both countries. Discussions also focused on Switzerland’s experience with energy transition and opportunities for knowledge sharing to support Trinidad and Tobago’s sustainable energy development. Both parties explored strategic divestment in the local energy sector as a means to enhance efficiency, attract private investment, and strengthen Trinidad and Tobago’s position as the Caribbean’s leading energy hub.

Switzerland’s success in leveraging private sector participation was highlighted as a model for fostering local growth and innovation. Minister Kesar and Ambassador Roduit reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration built on transparency, innovation, and sustainable development. The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries remains committed to fostering partnerships that support national growth and contribute to the sustainability of our energy sector.
