On July 24th, 2025, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries received reports of a fire at Ramco Industries Limited’s facility located in San Fernando. The facility comprises of a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Filling Plant, along with LPG Loading Bays and LPG Storage Tanks.
Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries visited the site on the night of the incident and received briefings from the Management of Ramco as well as from officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services (TTFS). The Honourable Minister was advised that the incident had been swiftly contained. However, four employees of the company sustained injuries and were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital. Minister Moonilal collaborated with the Honourable Minister of Health and the Regional Health Authority to ensure that the best medical care available is extended to these persons.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries recognises the critical role of Ramco Industries Limited as a major supplier of LPG to the general public. In this regard, the Ministry immediately took a series of steps to assess the impact of the incident. Firstly, a team of technical officers from the Ministry was assigned to investigate the incident. This team along with representatives of the OSH Agency and the TTFS conducted a thorough inspection of the site today, July 25th 2025. The Ministry also coordinated and chaired a meeting with all stakeholders including the Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited, Ramco Industries Limited and Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited to discuss the impacts of the incident and to plan the necessary actions to minimize disruption of supply to the general public.
The Ministry is satisfied that the Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited, Ramco Industries Limited and Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited are effectively collaborating and taking the necessary steps to ensure that there is minimal disruption of supply of LPG nationally. The Ministry also stands by to provide support as required in these efforts.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries is committed to ensuring security of energy supply in Trinidad and Tobago and therefore continues to monitor the situation at the facility as well as the plans being executed to ensure continuity of supply of LPG.
