Energy Minister Franklin Khan Formally Opens the NP Diego Martin Service

Energy Minister Franklin Khan formally opened the NP Diego Martin Service Station on Tuesday 31st October, 2017.

In his address Minister Khan stated, “in keeping with the Government’s strategy for the wider implementation of CNG as a major vehicular transportation fuel, Government has agreed to the implementation by December 2020 of a programme for the 30% conversion of vehicles in the fleet of Government and State Enterprises. Additionally Government has agreed that commencing October 1, 2018 and within 12 months of fiscal 2019 all new acquisitions of fleet vehicles in Government will be either CNG or hybrid.”

Minister Khan also disclosed that “Cabinet has agreed to the development by the NGC CNG Company Limited of a Flagship CNG station at the Preysal Roundabout, Couva to dispense both CNG and liquid fuels, and which will include a convenience store. The Flagship CNG station will have ten (10) CNG dispensing points to fill all classes of vehicles (cars, maxi-taxis, trucks, buses) and at least five (5) liquid fuel (gasoline, diesel) dispensing points to fill all classes of vehicles. It will have modern conveniences and will be operated 24/7.

In closing Minister Khan, “commended the Board, Management and Staff of the Trinidad and Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited for its initiative and foresight in undertaking the modernization of its service station network to ensure the travelling public of Trinidad and Tobago is provided with a level of service that is comparable to the highest international standards.”
