Clean up activities completed in Chaguaramas

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI) in collaboration with local manufacturer (ICSC Solutions Ltd.) and a vital sector organization representative of a key social and commercial segment with an interest in preserving the environment (YSATT – Yacht Services Association of Trinidad and Tobago) has completed the clean-up of the Chaguaramas Oil Spill effective Sunday 29th October, 2017.

Upon evaluation of the impact of the oil spill on the Chaguaramas area, the MEEI liaised with YSATT and conducted the necessary field tests to identify a suitable biodegradable degreaser for use in cleaning up the vessels affected by the spill.

The MEEI then contacted ICSC Solutions Limited – a Trincity based manufacturer of approved chemical solutions to supply products for an immediate response.
The MEEI had ICSC Solutions deliver the selected product, PRO-SOL HX heavy duty bio-degradable degreaser to YSATT (The Yacht Services Association of Trinidad and Tobago) for distribution to boat owners to assist in the clean-up activity which has generated very positive results.
