Executives of The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries meet with State Energy Companies and Chevron

Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, Dr. The Honourable Roodal Moonilal along with Minister in the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, The Honourable Ernesto Kesar along with Permanent Secretaries (Ag.) Ms. Karinsa Tulsie and Mrs. Ava Mahabir-Dass and a team of senior MEEI professionals met with executives from Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (Heritage), Paria Fuel Trading Limited (Paria), Guaracara Refining Company Limited (Guaracara) and Chevron Corporation (Chevron). The meeting took place at the Head Office of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, International Waterfront Complex, today, Monday 11th May, 2026.

The executives present included Mr. Kurt Ramlal, Chairman of Heritage, Mr. Kerry Rampersad, Chief Executive Officer (Ag.), Heritage, Ms. Nyree Alfonso, Chairman of Paria, Mr. Nazeem Mohammed, General Manager (Ag.), Paria, Mr. Gowtam Maharaj, Chairman of Guaracara. Virtually present were Mr. Andrew Stead Director, Downstream, Midstream & Chemicals Business Development, Chevron and Ms. Nicole Oakes, Lead, Supply & Trading Origination & Commercial team, Chevron.

Other attendees from the Ministry included Ayasha Nickie, Director, Downstream Petroleum Management Division, Anushka Benny, Chemical Engineer I/II and Ms. Gerri Cumberbatch, Senior Chemical Engineer (Ag.).

The purpose of the meeting was to progress previously held discussions on investment opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago. The meeting focused on opportunities for infrastructure rehabilitation as well as supply and trading. Chevron emphasized its existing, successful commercial partnerships with Heritage and Paria, and indicated that the company is open to exploring further avenues for strategic collaboration with the country.

Minister Moonilal welcomed the continued engagement with the leadership of the state energy companies and global giant, Chevron. The Minister also reiterated the Government’s commitment to supporting the sustainable development of the energy sector and fostering alignment between the state and private sector in pursuit of national economic objectives.
