The Honourable Stuart R. Young S.C., M.P, Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, along with Ms. Ayasha Nickie, Director of Downstream Petroleum Management Division at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, met with Mr. Edmond Thompson, Vice President and Managing Director, Nutrien on 6th September, 2024. The introductory meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront Complex, Head-Office, Port-of-Spain.
Minister Young congratulated Mr. Edmond Thompson, on his appointment as Vice President and Managing Director at Nutrien and commended the recent successful turnarounds of the company. Globally, Nutrien has made significant progress in reducing Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions from its facilities, and is committed to the implementation of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) sequestration and Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) initiatives in its operations.
Minister Young looks forward to further meetings with the executive leadership team from Canada on the exploration of Trinidad and Tobago’s potential to implement carbon reduction solutions within the local petrochemical sector with Nutrien’s technical support.
