The Honourable Stuart R. Young, MP, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister along with Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries and Ms. Karinsa Tulsie, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries visited the Atlantic LNG, Point Fortin facilities with members of the PETRONAS, Malaysia delegation on 7th November 2023. This was part of the two-day knowledge sharing programme hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries.
The participating PETRONAS representatives were Mr. Adnan Zainol Abidin, COO, PETRONAS and EVP and CEO Gas Business; Mr. Abang Yusuf Abang Puteh, SVP, LNG Assets; Mr. M. Yusof Abdullah, Senior GM, Strategy and Business Development, Gas Business; and Mr. Mohd Aimran Mohamed, Executive Assistant to COO and EVP and CEO Gas Business.
Mr Ronald Adams, CEO at Atlantic LNG received all parties at the knowledge sharing session, which was held at the Atlantic LNG compound, Point Fortin. At the session, the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Executives, PETRONAS delegates and Atlantic LNG officials shared insights into their respective operations. This allowed for identifying and mapping business opportunities and an exchange of business best practices.
To conclude ‘day-two’ of the knowledge sharing programme, all parties toured the facilities at Atlantic LNG which included the control room, the LNG Trains and jetty. At the tour, Minister Young took the opportunity to make a further connection between PETRONAS and Atlantic LNG as the Atlantic LNG plant was used as a model for the PETRONAS facilities in Egypt.
The two-day visit by PETRONAS, Malaysia to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an outcome of the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries’ travels to Vancouver, Canada in July 2023 where he met with Mr. Adnan Zainol Abidin COO, PETRONAS and EVP and CEO Gas Business. It demonstrates the strong interest of international stakeholders in building relationships with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in particular, the energy sector.
