Minister Young Receives Courtesy Call from Ambassador of Spain

In Minister Young’s continuing efforts to meet with stakeholders on an ongoing basis, the
Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, The
Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. met with His Excellency Fernando Nogales, Ambassador of the
Kingdom of Spain, at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ International Waterfront
Complex Head-Office, Port of Spain today (Tuesday 25th July, 2023). His Excellency was
accompanied by Ms. Cristina Argüelles García, Deputy Head of Mission.


Along with Minister Young, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Energy
Industries, Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles attended the meeting where discussions surrounded
on a variety of topics beneficial to both nations. Their diplomatic dialogue included the energy
future of Trinidad and Tobago and the region, with special emphasis on potential regional and
neighboring developments; and the use of additional renewable energy alternatives to assist the
country in meetings its carbon reduction objectives. Conversations regarding energy relations
between Trinidad and Tobago and Spain and by extension the European Union were also a focal
point in order to strengthen energy security, foster economic growth, and promote
environmental sustainability.


The visit concluded with both the Minister and the Ambassador of Spain expressing their
optimism to work towards propelling the bilateral relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and
Spain, which will promote the well-being of citizens.
