Feature Address-Commissioning of the Solar Park at the Piarco International Airport

Trinidad and Tobago’s first ground mounted, commercial-scale, solar park is now located at the Piarco International Airport.

This 0.5 MW solar park is expected to produce a minimum annual generation capacity of 767,034 kWh which can potentially avoid 500 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, annually. This initiative contributes to T&T’s Paris Agreement commitment, to reduce emissions by 15%.

At yesterday’s official launch ceremony, Minister Young took the opportunity to say that “Trinidad and Tobago is giving not only its commitment, but you will see through our implementation and delivery that we will do our part.”

Minister Young applauded the success of the project which was made possible through a collaboration among the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, The Ministry of Works and Transport, The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, The Ministry of Planning and Development and the European Union.
