The Honourable Stuart R. Young S.C., M.P, Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister; Ms. Penelope Bradshaw-Niles, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries; and Ms. Sandra Fraser, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries met with Woodside Energy executives on 26th July, 2024 at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’, International Waterfront Complex Head-Office, Port-of-Spain.
The Woodside executives present at the meeting were, Mr. Daniel Kalms, Incoming Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer International, Woodside Energy; Ms. Shiva McMahon, Executive Vice President, International Operations, Woodside Energy; Ms. Kellyanne Lochan, Country Manager, Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago; and Dr. Carla Noel-Mendez, Manager Corporate Affairs, Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Daniel Kalms was introduced to the Honourable Minister and Permanent Secretaries as the Incoming Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, International at Woodside Energy by Ms. Shiva McMahon who currently holds the position of Executive Vice President, International at Woodside Energy.
Noting the collaborative relationship that exists between Woodside Energy and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Kalms commended the Honourable Minister on being proactive when it comes to the industry and its resources. The Woodside Energy executives also congratulated the Honourable Minister on the recent signing of the unprecedented Cocuina licence.
Mr. Kalms went on to provide insight into the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago and the recent agreement for Woodside Energy’s acquisition of Tellurian and Driftwood LNG. Mr. Kalms stated that Woodside is committed to growing its international business and that the deep-water Calypso Project is set to benefit along with market opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago, especially due to this country’s existing infrastructure and attractive proximity to the Atlantic and Pacific routes for LNG.
Ms. Kellyanne Lochan, Country Manager, Woodside Energy Trinidad and Tobago reported a successful execution of activities after eighteen months of planning for a turn around which focused on the Greater Angostura Gas Project. This resulted in production optimization and the extension of field life which was positively received by Woodside Energy employees at a recent company, town hall meeting. Ms. Lochan commended the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries for its role in that economic extension.
Minister Young stated that Trinidad and Tobago continues to work with stakeholders to meet global energy demand and in plotting our future going forward the goal is to foster state participation across the entire Natural Gas Value Chain.
Both parties agreed to continue its open communication and partnership.
