Rig 110 Incident Response- Minister Young Meets with Response Teams and Family Members

On 26th December 2024, The Honourable Stuart R. Young S.C, M.P. Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister received a detailed in-person briefing on the Rig 110 incident response, at the Trinmar Marine Base, Point Fortin.

Present at the briefing were Mr. Anthony Brash, Managing Director of Well Services Petroleum Company Ltd; Mr. Erik Keskula, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Heritage Petroleum Company Ltd; and representatives of the response teams respectively attached to Well Services Petroleum Company Limited, Heritage Petroleum Company Limited and the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries (MEEI).

At today’s briefing, the Well Services Petroleum Company and Heritage teams discussed the imminent arrival of additional international resources in the form of more experts who are due to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago today to assist in assessing and advising on the continuing operations. Additionally details were provided as to the ongoing attempts to locate Mr Pete Phillip who unfortunately still remains missing.

Following the meeting with the incident response team, Minister Young met with the mother and immediate family members of Mr. Pete Phillip who were present and offered words of support and comfort during this difficult time.

Since receiving the first briefing of the incident at 3:30 a.m. on 22nd December 2024, Minister Young has consistently been involved in monitoring the incident response efforts through in-person and online briefings. At today’s briefing, Minister Young thanked the incident response team members for their unwavering professionalism and dedication to the incident response.

At this time, incident response efforts are continuing, and response teams remain at the site and on the ground.
