I saw the news reports this morning that reported on the passing away of Honorable Franklin Khan. I write this note to express my sadness for Trinidad’s loss of such an icon. Mr. Khan was influential in the success of Trinidad’s energy sector to what it is today. It was his energy and drive that impressed me most when I first met him in March of 2020, and I would always look forward to meeting him while in Trinidad. From all of us on the North America Team, we send our condolences to Mr. Khan’s family during this difficult time.

Minister Khan was our Line Minister when I chaired the Trinidad and Tobago Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TTEITI) until my resignation in 2019 and it was a pleasure to work with him. On behalf of the then TTEITI Team, I extend to Minister Khan's family and friends our sympathy and the hope that this patriot rests in peace after a very fulfilling life.

Deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Minister Khan. Undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable, humble and cheerful ministers I've come across during my tenure in the Public Service. Grateful that he always invested in and supported the upward mobility of the youth in the sector. His service to this nation was indeed exemplary and he will be missed. Rest in Peace Honourable Minister. ❤️
